A pro forma invoice is typically issued before the shipment or delivery of goods and is supposed to inform the customer about a price they ought to pay.
Pro forma invoices are usually sent in advance of regular invoices. Unlike regular invoices, pro forma invoices are not a demand for payment.
In some countries, the legislation requires business owners to always send pro forma invoices prior to shipment of goods and sending a regular invoice.
Sufio allows you to create pro forma invoices either manually or automatically from the orders in your BigCommerce store.
To create a pro forma invoice manually:
- Under the Invoices tab in your Sufio account, click on Pro Forma Invoices.
- Click the + New Pro Forma Invoice button.
You can easily create a regular invoice from every pro forma invoice by opening a pro forma invoice and clicking on the Create Invoice button.
You can also let Sufio create pro forma invoices automatically from orders in your Shopify store instead of regular invoices.
This setup is suitable for merchants who always need to issue pro forma invoices before regular invoices.
