White Day

On Valentine’s Day in Japan and some other Asian countries, women traditionally give handmade gifts and chocolates to their family, friends, and of course, their romantic interests. A month later, on March 14, it’s the men’s turn to return the gesture.

Known as White Day, it started in Japan in 1978 as a way for men to show their appreciation for the gifts they had received on Valentine’s Day. It’s also a popular day for going on a date together.

It’s less common for men to make gifts for the occasion, so they tend to splash out on lavish presents, especially for their other halves. Online shoppers will look for custom-made apparel, accessories, or jewelry. So if you sell any of these, White Day is a great opportunity to target existing or potential customers in Japan, as well as South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
